Well actually these are called snake gourds. We just grew them for the two grandaughters to help plant seeds and watch them grow. They take up alot of garden space along with the other gourds and pumpkins. The longest one is 44 inches long and 5 inches in diameter. If you look up snake gourds, apparently some cultures make musical instruments out of these like horns and rain sticks along with other useful things. Or you can just let them dry and paint snake like patterns on them. I really hope they don't want these again next year. LOL

I guess you can eat these when they are small maybe up to 18 inches like summer squash. The leaves stink when you pinch them, well thats what I read when I looked them up. I had to go out to the garden and see for myself. Pheww! sometimes I still do foolish things. I guess the chinese make a tea with the stinky leaves.

Ha ha Alex I should make one and learn to play so when staying up all night in the comps it would give me something to do. Wonder if it would annoy anyone who is trying to sleep

Those are cool, Lee! Great that you put them out for your grand daughters. I'm sure they enjoyed planting them and watching them grow.

I could send you some seeds if you'd like. I have seen the pics of your nice garden, and instead of planting them in the ground I would plant in a hanging basket and just let them cascade down. They take up alot of room, and this way you could prop them gourds on something to make them bend and twist in all kinds of weird shapes. Well then again you could make yourself one of the didgeridoos when they dry out. lol
