  • Adding to my arsenal...

I closed the deal with the seller on this one:

    http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/hsh/2001431289.html

    Picking it up tomorrow morning.

What do you think? Anybody have one like this?

My plan is to play in charcoal land for a while to see how I do with it. I thought I might even try some mods if you guys/gals have any ideas to share for making it better.

That's about what they sell them for new at HD. I know Vlap had one he used pretty successfully for a while. Watch the temp and keep water in the water pan. Oh - if I remember correctly the thermometers are junk.

So $50 isn't that great of a deal? I havent been able to find a new one to compare?

Can anyone else help me with this? I still have time to back out and keep looking.

That's what I am not sure of. I searched for them online, but the closest I have been able to find is the newer model (with two lower drawers) for aboout $125.

I am not sure I want to get it for $50 if the new ones are only $70.

After some thought and a helpful PM from SmokinLee, I think my money would be better spent on a future project, maybe a UDS build ???

Thanks for the advice, especially Lee. You guys rock!

try walmart for prices before ya buy. if ya want charcoal you can get this for around $60-70 i love mine & it's cooked a lot of hide.
                      http://www.walmart.com/ip/Brinkmann-...moker/10854142

i can take the top rack out & do a 24lb beer butt(stand up) turkey too.
you have to cut a full rack of ribs in 1/2 but it's a great smoker.

be sure to replace the charcoal pan w/ this.

Hanny, I just sent you an e mail. K Mart is selling a 22.5 Kettle type grill for $17.99. It aint a weber but if you plan on building a drum, heck you get the lid and the grate and can still smoke or grill in the kettle if ya want. I had my wife pick one up cuz I need a grate. The brand is BBQ-Pro
