I'm fed up with my hand grinder. Earlier this month there was a discussions about the Northern Tool electric grinder that is on sale for $79.99 plus shipping. I'm confident enough in that model based on what you all have said, but I see that Scheels has the LEM 575-watt counter top grinder on sale for $69.99 and we have a store here in town, so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. Can anyone compare these two grinders for me? Is the Northern enough better than the LEM to justify the additional $10 plus shipping? Thanks and happy turkey day weekend!

My Northern says it is 1,000 watts on the box....... ...... And it did come with all the extra stuff to make it useable as a stuffer also if that matters....... Not sure about the new ones though..... The blade is SS, but the plates are not & need to be sprayed with Pam & kept in a zip-lock bag to keep the rust away..... Just some info/thoughts.sigpic

My wife is asking me to give her the final verdict on which grinder . . . seems like the Northern is a plenty good option, though I wish the grinding plates were stainless. I'm sure the LEM would be fine too, but I'd rather have the metal gears if possible. I looked on Ebay and there are several options with greater horsepower/wattage, etc. Does anyone have any experience with Kitchenstar or Sunmile or MTN Kitchenware?

(Sorry, engineer/electronics guy inside joke there)
Wattage ratings, when advertised as a comparison point can be VERY mis-leading- depending on the standard of measurement.
