Sister-in-law drew my name in the gift exchange this year. She's asked me for some ideas and I'm having trouble coming up with something that fits the parameters (around $30 or less with shipping). Any great ideas for smoking/bbq-related gadgets that I should have? I generally smoke on a home-made UDS (unless I'm smoking jerkey, sausage, cheese, in which case I use a 30" MES) and grill on a Weber Genesis. Thanks!

Where to start..... .......

- I did not see Weber Kettle their?.... The grates with the hinged sides are sweet....

- The CI kettle grates are sweet...

- A good injector

- Probe Thermometer

- Heavy duty SS burger flipper (with bottle opener... :nana2:) Pampered Chef

- Weber light that attached to your handle for your grill

- Good Quality SS BBQ Tongs

- "Stir Fry" baskets for veggies & seafood

Where to start..... .......

- I did not see Weber Kettle their?.... The grates with the hinged sides are sweet....I don't have a Weber kettle, but I did buy those grates for my drum when I built it.

- The CI kettle grates are sweet... Good idea, but prolly too expensive?

- A good injector Not a bad idea since my cheap $2 syringe blew out on me last week, which resulted in my butter/cider mixture running down the wall. I even had to take off the base board trim, clean behind it, and put it back on.

- Probe Thermometer Finally broke down and bought a good probe this summer, though you can never have too many.

- Heavy duty SS burger flipper (with bottle opener... :nana2:) Pampered Chef I actually have the flipper you're talking about. Got it as a gift back in the late 90s. Love that thing! Sharper than hell too ont he blade side!

- Weber light that attached to your handle for your grill That's a possibility

- Good Quality SS BBQ Tongs It's true that you can never have too many good sets of tongs

- "Stir Fry" baskets for veggies & seafood Also a good idea . . .

Thanks for the input!

Yeah, I think the CI grates are about $90... A little high, just want one myself, so thought I would throw it out there.....

Love that Pampered Chef tool myself.... and you are right, that thing is sharp & built like a tank..... I think from now on, any young couple I know getting married is gonna get a 22.5" Weber kettle, charcoal chimney & Pampered Chef tool .... get em started off right :thumb: :bounce:

Whatever it turns out to be, good luck!

Good ideas all around. ijusthvit - love the beer pong setup. I'll have to buy that as a gift for one of my friends some time!

I think I have my wife talked into buying me an electric grinder for Xmas. Maybe it is time I tried some Mad Hunky!
