  • Spicy cookies rules

Our company has a bake sale tomorrow to raise money for our chosen yearly charity, so I had to put the new mixer to work tonight cranking out a batch of my famous habanero peanut butter cookies. Not as weird as it sounds, basically just peanut butter cookies with Kick Your Ass brand peanuts or similar crushed up in to the dough. Tonight I used a can of Da Bomb Ghost Pepper peanuts.

After making a few batches I was left with a sizeable chunk which I turned in to a Mother Of All Cookies. Behold the 8" peanut butter ghost pepper cookie glazed with mango habanero sauce.

The peanuts themselves give a nice lingering kick that creeps up on you long after the cookie flavor is gone, but works well with the peanut butter aftertaste.

I expect to bid this off for a few sawbucks at the bake sale tomorrow, with a matching donation from myself if someone buys and eats the whole thing at once.

Make sure you get your donation money before the nut eats the nuts.

If they eat that all at once, maybe you should throw in a block of ice, that they can sit on later

The recipe is pretty basic, one I've been using since I was a kid and dug it out of my grandpa's cookbook. This is almost a clone of what I recall the recipe to be. I baked them at 350 though, 375 made the bottoms brown too quick. As for the peanuts, just get any can of spicy peanuts and add a 1/2 cup to the recipe. I like to crush them up for the smaller cookies, which lets the pepper dust permeate the cookie dough better.

We're still waiting on a challenger, although we almost have one of our co-op interns talked in to it. :-)

We got the co-op to eat it. He claims it wasn't hot at all but the sweat running down his face told a different tale. All told, we raised $800 something dollars for our selected charities today.
