  • Bacon prices??????????

What do you guys pay for bellies to make bacon? I just called to get 75 pounds of them and they wanted 2.79 a pound. Seems awefully steep to me considering i can get Butts for 120 and loin for 2.50 and just make canadian and BB again. Hell sometimes can get loins aorund 2. Just seems over priced but maybe is just me......

My local butcher quoted me 2.69 a lb. I bought them 6 months ago for 1.99. Not sure wuz up. But if you look at the price of good quality bacon, jeez, it's 6.00 a lb.

Case lot price be 1.79 but I gotta drive 60 miles round trip ta get it. But be my only choice cause he's the only feller round here what sells em unsliced. He generally makes it worth my while fer the trip though.

Yeah, some folks complain bout my meat prices, but they keep comin back! My prices er half what anybody else charges an it's old school smoked goods, not the garbage in the store. One feller tells me "I hate ta pay that much, but it's soooooo good"! He be hooked but good!

$1.39lb for rib bellies. These are bellies with ribs still attached. Just remove the ribs and leave the meat on the belly for prime thick belly bacon.

Not a bad price really but seeing as my butcher sells great tasting bacon for around $3 a pound I rarely make it.

There's that top cut offa butt, almost exactly like belly in the fat/meat distribution and ratio. Last butt I was slicing up for sausage I had a really good one for this. Should have kept it for curing.
