Oddly enough I was just looking at that grate. I'm building a new firebox and decided on the grate and this door for the upgrade.

Because I have a buddy with a fab shop. I certify his welders for dirt cheap and one hand washes the other. I just want the cast door for the strength & seal. Sure he could build a reinforced door, but I like the looks for the cast door.

I guess I'm confused. The item in the link looks like it should be used inside the stove. A grate for getting your wood, coal, or other fuel up off of the floor of the stove, to get a little more airflow under it and burn hotter, as well as prolonging the life of the firebox. I didn't think it was a cooking utensil. Am I wrong? The short legs on it make me think it would sit too high above the top of the stove to allow it to get very hot at all if used that way
