.............I'm trying to get back into feeding the hungry around my house. So I thought I'd turn out a couple loaves of sourdough challah (Jewish egg bread). This is my favorite bread, though unless toasted, I can never eat it again. That's OK though, because my family loves it just as much.
One loaf goes to a friend as a "thanks" for the 100 lb bag of bread flour he GAVE me. He is a supervisor at a Panera bread factory. So I was able to get their special high protein flour.
They're both 6 braid loaves. My dough was a touch wet on these, so the braid strands aren't as pronounced as usual, but it should be light and airy and have a fantastic rich flavor.
