  • Here ya go Walking Dude

Pulled these out of the oven at 6 am after counting and feeding cows and hogs.
These were made using the 1847 Oregon Trail starter.

Here they are right before going in to the oven. I packed them a little tight, we'll see what happens.

Needed a little more pan, so......................

And here is the big pan after glazed. They rose so good I needed to give them a little more space between them. Some of them could only go up.
They sure were tasty for breakfast though.

Excellent looking rolls. I like to make my glaze using orange juice for the liquid. Gives it a unique flavor. Thanks for the pics.

Careful, you're gonna make me blush.
                    Actually I have enough kids.
                    Recipe is as follows.

                    1 1/2 cup of starter
3 cups unbleached all purpose flour
                    2 1/2 cups warm water
                    1 tsp baking soda
                    1 cup sugar
                    1 tbs salt
                    1/4 cup evoo
5 cups unbleached all purpose flour

Mix first 3 ingredients till somewhat smooth. Cover and put in warm draft free place over night.
Next morning, add baking soda, sugar, salt, evoo, and 3 cups flour, mix well, then turn out onto a well floured surface, add more flour, 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time. Then when it's getting close, add flour at a rate of 1/2 to 1 Tbs at a time, and knead till smooth and elastic, but not quite as dry as your average bread dough. Brush some evoo inside a big bowl, place dough in bowl, then flip. Cover and place in warm draft free area and let rise to double. Punch down, divide dough in half, roll out first half as you normally would for rolls, smear some real butter all over, sprinkle what ever you want (sugar or brown sugar, Cinnamon, raisins, etc.), roll up, cut into 1 1/2 or 2 inch slices, place on greased cake pan giving some room for rising of course, allow to rise one more time. Repeat with the second half.
When sufficiently risen, put in 350º pre-heated oven for 15 to 20 minutes. When finished, let stand for about 10 minutes and either glaze or frost with what ever you like.
I also decorate cakes, gay I know, but I'm good at it. Anyway, if I have some decorating frosting left, we'll spread that on there. But I think my favorite is a cream cheese frosting.

Great post and they look good.

On another note, that's just funny right there. Gotta give points, that's classic.

Those are sourdough buns right ?
                          Look excellent :-)

What you need to get us really drooling is a shot of one that's just been pulled apart so you can seen the swirl of filling, Mmmmmm....

                            Yep. sourdough.
Good point about the pic. See what I have.

Is this what you want CA? It's 2 days old now, so I had to nuke it.
I take these to work with me and nuke them then spread real homemade butter on them.
Not a lot of dripping filling, but it sure tastes good.
I like to roll mine out real thin so they have lots of layers. But you'll have to look at the previous pics to see that. I tore this one apart just for you.
