  • Freezing Mashed Potatoes?

Do they freeze well? .... My family loves them, but I hate the time consuming process of making them..... Vacuum pack? .... Plastic containers? ... .... Thanks in advance.

Can be done, better to not butter them until the reheat.

Better yet is to boil them and freeze them prior to smashing, then thaw, heat, season, smash, butter, serve.

I've never tried freezing them and since Sam's Club started carrying Idahoan instant, that's what I use 90% of the time. http://www.spiceplace.com/idahoan_in...d_potatoes.php

My neighbor grew a boatload this year. Far more then his family could eat. Gave us I'd say 100 plus pounds of them. Kept about 20 pounds in the pantry, the rest we boiled up and mashed, then into quart size zip loc and into the freezer. Just take out what we need, when we need em

We freeze mashed potatoes all the time. Especiall after Thanksgiving as all the left overs go out to the garage and they end up freezing. We just scoop out what we want the reheat them in the microwave.

You can buy bags of frozen mash potato blobs.
                            I don't but you can :-)

So yep they freeze extremely well.

I've started to get into mash quite recently. Once I started making my own lol
