Hi everyone. Good to be here thanks to Fireguy.

I've was so busy dealing with the brown stuff life threw at me that i haven't fired up for the smoker in waaaaayy too long.

I'll hopefully be getting the old CGSP back smoking this weeked (weather permitting). Used it for grilling up a few burgers recently. It was a good oppurtunity to clean it up and re-season.

My stepdaughter is graduating high school in May and we are doing all the food for the open house. We asked her what she wanted and she said bbq pork. Told her i could do some brisket as well. Nope just pork, works for me. We've been picking up pork butts for the last few months and it's about time to start cooking them.

Good to see a lot of familiar names here. Hopefully i'll get a chance to check in on a regular basis.

Thanks Slanted, been dealing with quitting smoking tobacco so been on that forum a lot. Was emailing with Fireguy for a while and he pointed me to this place.

Looking forward to getting back in the saddle again. Checked out our local wally world a few weeks back and they had restocked with RO lump. Guess that means grilling season is back.

Just gotta find my way around a new forum now

Thanks for all the warm welcomes from old friends and new ones, it is truly appreciated.

Rowdy - the not smoking cigs is going pretty good. I stumbled across electronic cigs just before xmas. They work amazingly well, or do for me anyway. I guess since xmas eve i've smoked maybe 4 packs. That's only when i've been waiting on another mail delivery. I'm still using nicotine but stepping that down each month. Aiming to be totally off that by mid summer.

Been browsing the forum, darn it, i went and looked at the fatty section. May have to try to come up with a new one to throw on this weekend while cooking the butts.

I did have one good score over the winter. I was looking for another source of firewood and just happened to hear a guy saying that he had 45 acres of timber not too far away from me. I asked if i could clear out any downed trees. He said go for it, take what you want. Once I got to checking out his lot i found that 30% of the trees are shag bark hickory. SCORE !!!

Anyways ..... good to be back amongst friends
