  • Infused Vodka

Sitting at the bar at Bonefish Grill, my wife was enjoying the first of her 4 watermelon martinis, as I enjoyed my more manly dirty ones. Somehow got the bartender to tell us how they made the watermelon ones. Wife has been wanting to try it, so I says, "Pfffffffft!". If I'm gonna infuse some vodka, it's gonna be some manly vodka!

So here's the cucumbers, peeled and seeded

And here it is, 3 cucumbers to one quart vodka

    This gets 24 hours...

    Now my turn...

    6 slices of yummy bacon

Added to one quart of vodka

The bad news - this is supposed to go for two weeks. Not sure if I can wait that long to sample. Supposed to make a killer bloody mary... Will report on that maybe in a week.

My brother in law made several different kinds of infused voldka's for Xmas this year and they were really good. My favorite ones were the Gost Pepper one (which is really hot) and the other one I really liked was the garlic infused one. The garlic one is really good in Bloddy Mary's or for cooking. He also made a Coffee, Cinnamon and some other one that were good buy not as good for my taste buds. Let us know how yours turn out.

I used Russian Standard. Didn't want to kick out the coin for Grey Goose or similar for something I may not like. But really, I don't see me not liking it!

I've made a lot of infused vodka. I read somewhere to filter cheap vodka to use it for infusing. I have done that and it makes a huge taste difference.
I run the vodka through my Britta filter three times.
If you google it you will see why it taste better for infusing and it's so much cheaper than buying nice vodka.
I have a filter that I just use for vodka.

Have read that a few times myself.

About 2 years ago, I tried my hand at the bacon infused vodka. I think I used too much bacon on mine, or too little vodka LOL.

Will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of this one you are doing. Looks like it will be a winner

that is a GREAT idea. I have read up a bit on vodka, and the biggest difference in the quality and taste is simply how many times the water is distilled

So.... how cheap of vodka can you get away with using a brita filter? I notice the video guy uses Absolute.

                              What do you use Mo?
