  • Western Maine?

OK dunno where they got my email from...but I got this today...

Also, there is an additional info file in .doc format that's too big for here...go to the site if yer interested...

    Dear Competitor,
After meeting many competitors throughout last summers’ BBQ festival season, we are excited to announce that we are ready to BBQ! On July 23rd we will kick off the Western Maine BBQ Festival, the new event that everyone has been talking about. Located at the Fryeburg Fair grounds in Fryeburg, Maine (just 15 minutes from North Conway, NH), we offer a beautiful and competitor friendly venue.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted by members of the organizing committee, escorted to your large cook site that has easy access to water and electricity, and provided with a schedule of events that include a classic car show, motorcycle show, mechanical bull riding, bands, and demonstrations. With all of that going on, we pledge to you that the heart and soul of this event will be the competitors and the promotion of great BBQ. Once you have settled in, we will be serving to you a lobster dinner with all of the fixin’s. A non seafood dinner option will be available. To make you as comfortable as possible, we offer real clean bathroom facilities conveniently located throughout the venue, showers, a laundry mat, and activities for the kids. A very competitive purse totaling $12,500.00 and as an official state championship, an invitation to the American Royal for the winner will round things out nicely.
The NEBS grilling competition will take place on Saturday, July 23rd and KCBS competition will be on Sunday July 24th.

An application and general information has been included. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Sincerely,
    Sonya Allen

    free lobster dinner ?
    (looks at map)
Looks like a pretty fair distance from michigan though. Guess you could just stay at home and spend the gas money on a lobster banquet, every night for a week

Don't we have a member in Maine? The guy who built all of the little Lang clones. Can't think of his name.

That would be Steve. Smokin' Steve. They may have sent that email out to any and all KCBS members. I know I got one too, but then I'm in MA and have been in contact with those friendly folk regarding this event. Nice venue those fairgrounds. Showers at a comp. Very nice.

Actually there are at least 2 members form Maine here. Just saw this this AM, and am getting curious. Hannaford Supermarkets appear to be the chief sponsor(part of Delhaize Group-Food Lion is also). Fryeburg is in the western mountains, very beautiful country.
