  • Any keggers out there

On my second batch of beer i used to make beer years ago but bottling and all the cleaning was a pain in the a$$. So got myself a couple of old soda kegs a c02 tank. Should have some to do this weekend could use some tips or tricks if there is anyone here that does this.

I don't think there are any real "tricks". I too was tired of washing bottles and went to the 5 gal corny kegs W/ Co2. Only thing I did was fill, charge to I think around 30 psi? ( Might be off on that one) and roll the chit out of it on the floor so the Co2 would absorb into the beer.

How are you planning on dispensing it? In a beer fridge with a tap or thru a cold plate? I have found that making a dedicated beer fridge worked allot better vs a chill plate.

Yes, I forgot about that. Mine was cold before hitting it with the gas. It's been a while since I kegged. I picked up 2 almost brand new cornies last year but have yet to use them. This year I gotta get a brewing. It's too much fun and the beer is soooo much better.

been a while since I've done any home brewing, but as I remember there are two different style connections: pin or ball (I think), so make sure you get the right ones for you kegs.

oh yeah, and never ever ever try to use one that's had root beer in it. That smell/taste never comes out!

I use to brew but not lately. Used 3 Cornelius kegs with ball tops. Pumped out a kegerator. Just to much work for what ya get out of it. I could drink it faster than I made it. I mostly brewed the Irish Red (good beer). I had mine hooked into the CO2.

Here is a picture of the kegs I used.
