  • My version of Gravlax

    Just did a batch of Gravlax, not my first but definitely my best. I used Taz's recipe and added some Mustard seed and "Wow" Just the thing. Thanks for checking out my fish...

    The mix:

    * 1/4 cup Sea Salt
    * 1/4 cup Turbinado Sugar
    * 2 TBS Crushed Peppercorns
    * 2 TBS Crushed Mustard Seed

    De boned and Prepped the Salmon. No skin on these...

    Added the mix...

    A shit load of dill...

    Ready for the fridge and going for 5 days on this bad boy...

    After 1 day. I flip them twice a day...

    5 days "Finally" It's like watching paint dry. I washed and pat dried them. A lot of people just scrape the stuff off but I like it this way...

    I just can't say how great this turned out. The texture was very firm but the flavor was in your face good. I was very happy with the outcome. If you haven't tried Gravlax give it a go. It's very easy. Be warned though, you either like it or you don't...

    I plan ahead, that way I don't do anything right now.

            Looks like a great recipe Zeek. Your right, folks either love it or hate it, but super easy to make. Just salt and sugar will do the curing. 5 days is a long cure for salmon. Gave it some time to soak up the dill and mustard flavors.

                          I've never tried it before but from the recipe and the looks of yours, I think I'd like it.
