  • Making your own burners?

I know there is a difference between a NG and LP burner, namely the orfice size... the question is, what sizes are the holes for each gas? I have a guy that wants a gas grill... i COULD use a replacement burner from a standard gas grill, but none of them are really sized or shaped just right. i know i can make my own burner out of some stainless tube, but what hole sizes do i need to use so i don't end up making a blow torch under his meat?

This is one of the items on my short list too.

My smoker build will need a LP gas burner if I don't use one of those auxiliary
electric burners. I'd prefer to use LP gas.

Perhaps I can find one of those Bar B Que grills that's shot and salvage the
gas burner off the side table that's used for keeping a sauce pan warm.

On the control knobs of a Gas Grill, are the orifices formed on the manifold where the flexible aluminum foil tubes to the burner slide onto them ?

      Something like this.

Otherwise I'll try and find a burner off an old gas cook stove from a junk yard and try to figure a safe way to rig it up. Anyone rigged up something low bucks like this before ?

Interesting question.... Not really my area, but... Have seen a couple smokers that have used the LP guts out of an old RV cooktop for the heat source in a smoker.... Anyone remember who?
