  • CI aficionados, what do I have here?

Picked this up some time ago and just found it when cleaning up my shop. Heavily caked with grease/grim, I put it in my blast cabinet with some light media compound and it's a Wagner. So, whats it worth if anything. Just curious. Approx 9" dia.

      Update, nothing major....

I don't believe it's worth much according to others I now see online, but approx when would this have been made? Anyone have a clue or a site that is devoted to this sort of thing?

Apparently the name Wagner did not appear on skillets after 1922.

        Here's a little info: http://blackirondude.blogspot.com/20...=1238873760000

Or maybe this man can help you figure out the date it was made:

Looks like a nice old pan.

I have a Magnalite pan with the same Logo as yours.

So just guessing that yours is from the 20th century because they didn't start magnalite untill 1934.

I have quite a few pieces of old Wanger CI. I know it is far superior to any Lodge stuff I've owned as far as performance but I guess I need to check it out more closely to see what I have as far as value goes.

                That's interesting.

                I've got one too.

                My Mom's old one.

Of course it was in better shape seasoning wise when she had it. After sitting in my garage for a few years it got kind of screwed up.

It's coming back though/ A few more packages of bacon and it should be in pretty good shape.

I'll have to poke through the links and try to figure out how old it is.

                  Re:

In the town I grew up in there is an Antique District. I used to create and maintain web sights in the late 90's when I was getting started for several of the Antique Stores. They were eager to sell online so they could reach better markets.
In doing my work I learned a lot about antique items and their value.

My first client had a roof full of stuff she wanted to sell online and cast iron was a big part of that collection. She was telling me that she bought all the Wagner and Griswold she could lay her hands on.

She explained to me about the information on the bottom. She then showed me the books in her library that had the published value for such. You can often find some of these books in the main Libraries.

But that's good piece of Ironware. Many people are still cooking in iron like that every day.

You may want to look at this:
