  • Pork Ribs: Naked or Sauced?

I have noticed that an awful lot of you sauce your ribs while on the smoker. I must admit, they look great.
I remember a poll a few years ago on SMF about this, and most preferred naked with sauce on the side. I'm calling glaze a sauce also.
Now I wonder if since that time, has something changed. Different members, changed minds, etc.
So let's see if anything has changed.
I prefer naked with sauce (that I won't use) on the side.
    31
Naked with sauce on the side
    51.61%
    16
    Sauced on the smoker
    22.58%
    7
    Either way, I'm not picky
    25.81%
    8

    The poll is expired.

I prefer naked with sauce on the side. Occasionally I will dip into the sauce before a bite. My wife likes them real saucy but is willing to have her sauce on the side.

Well, I don't fit in there just square, after I pull em off the smoker I glaze with 50/50 butter an honey, then let rest fer 30 minutes. Thats all my ribs get sides the rub.

Dry, period. No sauce on the side, top, botttom, interior, exterior, lateral, medial, dorsal, etc...... I do like sauce, just not on my ribs.

I sauce them half way through and foil them, I've had great results that way.

Sauced on the smoker for me, like them on the sweet side. Never have any trouble tasting the meat or smoke with the sauce. I don't apply a heavy rub to the rib if they are getting sauce. Actually, I prefer just seasoning or sometimes marinate them. I thick layer of spicy rub and then sauce is too much spice for me.

I'm assuming "Naked" means dry with rub only; and I eat em that way too.

Sauce on the grill sometime, cooked then sauced and foiled then back on the grill sometimes. Just accordin how I feel at the time.
