  • Ribeye & Strip Cook

Perfect night to grill some steaks on the Weber tonight. Its benn in the mid 70's and sunny all day, should make for a great early spring evening in God's Country(illinois river valley).

Hit Caputo's over in Naperville for some steaks. Got a 2+ lb. ribeye, and (2) bone in strip steaks, total tab $25 for these 3 steaks.

Undecided if I will spatchcock( ) the monster ribeye. Seriously I might cut the ribeye in half, grill half & freeze half, and do one of the nice bone in strip steaks, freezing the other for another day. Or I might do the whole monster ribeye and one of the strips and freeze one of the strips. Ill decide later.

Basic grilling method, Kingsford blue, maybe some pecan. Hot and fast sear and serve. Salt, pepper and maybe some garlic powder only.

Ill serve these with some red potatoes I will put in foil and cook on the grill and some veg.

    Badboy ribeye:

    side shot:

plate o' steaks(just for reference those strips are 1" thick...):

Damn fine looking steaks there Jim. I gotta get my neighborhood butcher to get me some of them soon.
Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

damn that's a big ass steak, I'd split it in half, then try dry aging the other half for later.

Thanks my friend, it was a challenge with that thick cut. But I think I hit a perfect medium rare.
