  • Da Butt and Butt Ribs

Butts were on sale for .99/# so I picked up 4 more yesterday. Decided to smoke 1 of them today. The rest are for sausage. Did the CD Score (capt Dan) on the butt, mustard and rubbed and in the fridge over night. Rubbed the ribs and into rest with the butt. They will both get smoked with cherry this time. Started using it this winter and really like it. It's 23* out and the butt is on. The ribs and tators will go on this aft.

    Butt ready to rest

    Ribs ready too.

More pics to come later. Now it's time to go make some egss and fry up some homemade breakfast sausage.

Ah, the CD Score ... love it!! Great price on those butts, I'd have to stock up on them if they were that price around here.

Looks like a nice meal, Mark. I'll arrive right around dinner time ...

Looks great, Mark! I actually remember when the everyday price of butts was .89 cents a pound. Oh well, I also remember when gas was 19 cents and cigarettes were a quarter.

Just got the ribs on. Things didn't start out the greatest. Planned on using the SnP. Got it fired up and just couldn't hold the temps. Wind was swirling all over so decided to just get the gosm going and not fight it. Had to take a break and have some brunch. Eggs, toast and some of my breakfast sausage I made a few weeks ago.

Ribs just put on and the butt after 5 hrs. Taters on in another hr.

Still only 41* out, but at least the sun is shinning for now. Rain moving in late aft. I am soooo ready for warmer weather!!

Got everything done. Did a few things diff. this time. I didn't foil the butt. Took it to 205 and then into the cooler. Didn't foil the ribs or put a glaze on them either.

                    Ribs all done.

Very tender and juicy and tasted great

And the butt ready to get wrapped and into the cooler. It will get pulled tonight and bagged up Mon.

Thanks for checking out my pics.

                        It all looks lovely.
A local store actually had boneless butts for .89/lb this weekend. I don't know how much I bought, but it was a bunch. I do buy them when they are having a sale like that. And to be right honest, after smoking they are just as good as my home raised pork.
