I'll hook you up Mikey. The wood has been only down for about 5-6 weeks. So it may be another 6 months before it's good to smoke with. I just need to figure out a way on how to cut them down to chunks, I'm only equipped with a hammer hatchet. I may have to rent a saw at home depot.

Don't rent anything as I'm on the verge of getting a sawzall as I need one for all the orange wood that I got from my neighbors tree. Hope he doesn't notice

Nice score! ..... I have never used it, but think I remember hearing it was good stuff also...... I bought a little electric chain saw off CL for $20 that I use to cut my smoking wood into smaller chunks for drying, works great. A sawzall also will work if you have access to one. Might have to split it first if it's a short blade.

excellent score. I would head back and get all you can and try and stock pile the stuff if you can.

this link may help. as it list avocado with little are no info except that it is supposed to be good for all meats.

I have used it for charcoal (burnt it down and cooked over it). and that was many avocado seasons ago. never much knew about smoking at the time. smelled good. and the indians used it to cook with along with all kinds of other woods they would find in the jungle.

use it straight and if need be add some other wood to enhance it.

I have used avocado quite a few times. I used to buy it in 6 to 7 cord loads for heating. (hope Kelly doesn't see us talking this way 'bout avocado wood!) She may pull her hair out. Freakin' Sinead O'Connor on our hands!! I personally do not like it. It is not horrible but it doesn't impart much flavor. Burns faster than many other woods. Maybe I have used it so much I can't stand it, but it leaves a peppery linger during and after burning. Our dear friend Kelly won't come near the stuff, if it's burning. From fatties to P.P. I have cooked over it. It won't ruin a cook, but I would add another wood to help the smoke flavor. And coal bed if you are burning in a stick burner. I hope it works well for you none the less.
