  • Tri-tip.....tips

Ok no real good pics but I did try some of the Rub Co Santa Maria seasoning on some tri-tip tips (and a secret injection recipe). Man this stuff is nice. I think this is the first time I had tri-tip as well. Weather was terrible so I grilled them on the gasser, as I didn’t like singing in the rain. Not a ton of pics or anything do to working on smokers and a million other things. I would suggest this seasoning for steaks and tri-tips. Thanks for lookin.

this thing was spot on, cooked to a round 140ish

Competed against these guys in Santa Maria. They kicked ass. Haven't tried the rub but the guys who make it are the real deal

I tried some of that rub recently on chicken. I was on a raft trip on the yellowstone river and I brought some red oak along and grilled open fire at a camp site it was killer. I'll have to try some tri-tip soon! Nice work!

Very nicely done...140 is where I take mine off too...just right...
The trick with the tips is that the grain doesnt always run the direction that it seems it should...I mark the grain before rubbing just like I do for brisket...Then I know how to slice it when its done

                        One of my favorites!
I've never steaked a TT so I'm curious as to the tenderness. It doesn't look like you marinaded them and that sliced shot looks like London Broil - how was the chew on those?

                        The picture looks awesome!!

even sliced with the grain on that piece they were tender and "fall apart"....Other slices I got the grain right and man these rank up among the best that is for sure. tons of marbling in the pieces, if you can find them jump on them

I'll have to give your method a try.
