  • Know anything about drums with white paint liners?

I was talking with my nephew who owns his own Sorbetto and Gelato company over bt Saugatuck, Michigan and he told me that he gets mangoes shipped to him in metal drums and that I could get all I wanted. I asked him about liners in them and he went and looked at one saying that it looks like they are coated with white paint. Anyone ever heard of a "Dreaded "White" Liner? I'm hoping that a paint thinner of some kind might take it out.

A guy here in AZ is selling food grade drums, that have the white liner in them.

I bet it's the exact same thing as the red...otherwise I probably would have bought one off him

Prolly not John... that's a food grade poly/plastic type thing. Maybe roast it out is it. You could TRY straight acetone or MEK... but that crap is expensive and toxic to deal with.

Oh well, it was just a hopeful thought. I'd still like to build a couple more drum smokers. one more for at home to run hot for poultry (When I'm using the other one low & slow) and one for up at our lake place.

        Thanks TD & Rich.

Hopin to see you and the team Saturday Rich.
