it'll be a wattburner thinking maybe horizonal with end door if Tom (gunslinger) comes up with a good way to hinge it or any ideas from the group here. any ideas on other doors or a vertical build will be looked at. this is about 24" tall & 20"dia on outside. this will be mainly used at work or mama if she likes it.:banana_smiley:

I don't have any ideas for you as I've never built a smoker but whatever you end up with I'm sure it will be sweet.

If you make it a vertical smoker, I would make 4 brackets to place hinges on.. Kinda crude drawing... I didnt take much time doing it.. The hinge rod would not need to go across..

That's a nice tank. I almost scored a 7 by 2 foot stainless tank, but someone snagged it before I could get there.

This is how I was thinking I'd do my kettle grill hinges. But because of the weight, I'd probably use bushings and a cold rolled steel rod. I'd go with 1 single rod that goes through both hinges just like TH's rendering. It would help distribute the load and keep everything lined up properly.

that thought crossed my mind several times as i gave up on the smoker idea too small so she became a fire pit.
