Had the VERY BIG pleasure of meeting several of the members at Hammond, La, when I cooked with the Smokin Scotsmen a couple of years ago. Very friendly, cordial, and very hospitable. Especially when one opened his house to several teams after the comp for a "shrimp and crawdad boil". The team came from the east coast, west coast, a couple from Michigan, and a few from here and there.



The members of that team are some of the nicest and friendliest people on the bbg circuit I had the privilege to meet!

we lent gary from california a 22 inch wsm and 3 18 inchers 3 years ago when they did the Dover,deleware comp as part of first bbq pitmaster deal on tv....Great guy.....

Its my understanding a team can only do one comp a week,but that head cook on entry can be anyone...I may be wrong though....

Either way we buds with one of top 5 in TOY this year and he will easlily do 30 comps now he retired....and he does all the comps with his wife and sometimes a friend helps....

I agrree 100% SIR.....If only one of our team(sis,bil or me) had to do a comp then fine...we are the team...i would feel same way about captain-n-smoke etc....

I would say a good 1/4 of teams at Jack Daniels last year were double or triple teams.....so be it.....I see that a lot in our comps.....Not like we gonna stop competing cause of a auger fed electric FEC or 15,000 Jambo...

What i dont like is when a contender for TOY type thing cant make a comp and has a ringer type guy cook for him....Thats BS.....Then again....i taking offers...lol...:}
