I was out buying some cars at a local scrap yard and looked over by the stainless pile (I am attracted to stainless) and lo an behold I spotted a Jen-air outdoor grill.

I always am looking for parts for projects. This particular grill had 2 burners that I are made out of some sort of stone. There are no cracks so I hope they will work.

I even found a stainless bucket (I just had to have it) to carry some odds and ends.

Also found a stainless grate and some heavy iron grates.

All this for $1 per pound. I told him I had 20 lbs, he said 30, if i end up buying the cars=free.

Scrap yards  Friends who own scrap yards :banana_smiley:

I've cooked on a grill with those burners, They get really hot, almost too hot. Much hotter than a regular gas burner.

Those are ceramic IR burners. They are great for searing, not so great for cooking anything thicker than a hamburger. Just way too hot, unless you have a thick deflector/radiant element.

I was a little worried about temp, but i have seen them used on Gyro warmers.

I hope that i can regulate the gas flow and keep temps stable at 200-225.

Not likely, there's not much adjusting them. They are kinda on or off.
