  • Barrel price...

I am planning on building a UDS and found a once-used barrel that contained fish oil for $10. No liner and the top already cut out and ground. Too much??

Plain steel is going for about $.15/Lb scrap I think... not too much!

I pay about $85 per barrel. But it's full of beer.

                Re:

In my part of the world they are advertised in the Trading Papers for $15.
some have the removable lids with the clamp and they are around $20.

Most of the sources get them free from the industries to haul them off
and these sources figure they will become burn barrels out in the country
                side.

One guy I know got a couple of these and made one of those over under
wood burning stoves. The door in the bottom used a 9" pyrex glass pie plate for the window which I thought was an interesting use of an already existing component. He used stainless steel strap around the two barrels to hold them together and he heated his Barn/Shop with it in the winter.

You can do some interesting things with these barrels and often the more you buy the cheaper you get them.
