  • 2011 elk hunt

well i messed up on my chance on an elk this year, long story... but here a few pics... we were still able to bring back 2. we also took my nephew(just joined the forum) and his wife with. had a great time and have some great pics...

first off i think when Squirrel said she like a klondike bar i dont think she reffering to any ice cream sammy. mebe something more like this eh...

made it to trailhead and horses out a trlr.

not gonna get too fancy with this but just pick out a few random shots for ya all.

set up camp and some views

    .

nephew got this 4-by. bro in law got a 5x4 but it not packed down yet...

watch what happens when you mix clouds and sunset... wish i had a better camera.

some camp shots, a sunrise, a cupla birds for Maggsie, and some cooked elk at camp...my sis went up and she did most of the cooking this year so not my handywork.

these were really good, diced elk, potato, onion, carrot and lipton onion soup mix, toss in foil pouch individual size. were great after a day hunting.

what we go up for... some elk tenderloin, w/bacon,onions, and added some canned shrooms... sorry no fresh availible. still had a bit of cooking to go as were cut pretty thick.

i didt know how this would turn out, taken straight into sun coming over the mountain...

    thks for cking my pics!

Nah, first off dont have an .06 and wouldnt waste a round on them. they are natures cleanup crew but i can see how they got there name.

tell you what, last year i shot an elk and i waited a while before going after it... it didnt go far but dropped in some pines. had a real good blood trail so would have been no prob finding. but i noticed a tree where all these birds were gathering so i walk straight there and sure nuff there lay my elk. so i give em a lil respect too... at least they dont sqwack at you like the blue jays we have up here...

good luck on your hunt buddy.

Glad to see you got to take some meat back with you. We're going in two weeks so I hope there's more snow in the high country to get things moving. Congrats on a successful hunt.
