View Full Version : My Bride turned 50 today...

We spent the day doing things we enjoy... working in the barn, tending to the critters, and feasting!
I was inspired recently by Walle's post on onion rings. Pande's Kentucky Fire Crackers have become an absolute staple at our house. The kids want to know why the designated bowl is empty! So I put the two together and made M.H. Kentucky Fire Rings... Damn!!!!!! While my bride and daughter (13) were inside making the rings, my son and I (11) fired up the chargrill on the front of Black Betty. With that big surface just begging for meat I threw on 10 strips and 3 rib-eyes. Prime Alberta Beef baby!! Improved with a generous coating of M.H. and Smokin Stampede rub. We wrapped some spear grass in prosciutto and grilled up 3 Dungeness crabs. Plate it up, pop the cork and savor the flavor.
I don't know which was my favorite, the smokey crab, the amazing rings of fire, or the perfectly medium rare rib-eye. Apparently my daughter made a killer cake...and a wafer thin mint....:drooling:

Tell the little lady Wingman says "Happy Birthday!"

Wow, you folks ate right nice today. Those steaks really had nice color and just thr right amount of char. And the crab? I used to be an avid crabber in our local waters of the Puget Sound. LOVE EM!

Thanks everyone for the BD wishes for the wife. She thinks you all are great!
( Aw-shucks... they don't even know me! ) I told her that if you smell like you have been standing around the smoker all day, you are welcome on the island anytime. Thanks for the nice comments on the meal and the points. We had a great evening to finish off a great day! Now that both of us are on the downhill slope I hope things don't speed up :faint:
Low and slow..... emphasis on the slow. Great advice for many aspects of life.

If y'all are ever this far north... stop in to the farm. There is always room and if you leave hungry it is not my fault.
