  • advice on smoking

3: I just place the wood over on my charcoal. Many people wrap a few pieces in foil and make plenty of holes in the foil, then place that on the charcoal. This would stop the wood burning, but allow the smoke out. I prefer placing naked wood directly on the coals, though - I just make sure that the wood has had a long soak in water first. It seems to generate more smoke that way.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

Hmmmm... sound advice, yet an amazing display of self proclaimed knowitism and utter stupidity. I remain flaccid.

Butt hey, I'm gonna try that... thanks for the tip! Now, shouild I use bottled water, and which side of the foil faces the wood... the shiny side, or the dull side? Is store brand okay? Can I use lighter fluid to start the fire?

Well . . . at least he added the words "good luck" after the phrase "hope this helps". Good luck is right.
