  • Venison Stroganoff

Saw Tadowdaddy's thread on Beef Stroganoff yesterday. Made me want to make some, so I did, but with a venison rump roast I had in the freezer.

    Thinly sliced venison.

    Dusted with seasoned flour.

Sauted onion and garlic in the cast iron

Remaining ingredients added (everyone knows what browned meat looks like, so I didnt take a pic)

Served over "no yolk" noodles w/ a sprinkling of parsley.

Was damn good! And the kicker...... the Mrs didnt know it was venison, and wants me to make it again!

Hehe... good work Geoff... looks fantastic! Would one consider some paprika in that sauce- or maybe even saffron?

One would Rich. I still have a fair amount of saffron I got in Mumbai on a trip about 10 years ago. Keep forgetting I have the stuff cause it gets pushed to the back on the cupboard.

USE IT! It's not getting any better, and it's expensice as all get-out. The Hunkies use a couple pistils (It's the pistil of the European crocus flower) in their chicken soup.... delicious!
