Smoked me a turkey

Have'nt hunted turkeys in 20 years, birds didn't want to play, so had to resort to a stock behind a Pretty boy decoy. Aint nothing like getting with in 20yards of a turky in a open feild. Will post pics of the final smoke in a couple weeks

Ain't it amazing? When I lived in Iowa, no turkeys. And pheasant was fading fast.
Missouri has the best turkey hunting in the country. But there has been a cost. Between them and the feral hogs, quail don't stand a chance. The hogs eat the eggs, and the turkeys eat the new hatchlings.
The other day I was hunting mushrooms and there were 4 hens where I usually find mushrooms. Another victim of a huge turkey population.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but I do love to hunt and eat quail.
