I ordered on-line Friday evening from Pittsburgh Spice Company, checked on my order Monday evening, and received my order today. I must say, so far I'm very happy with my purchase. The spices look and smell fresh, and the casings are the best I've seen. Of course my opinion is without using any of it. That will change this weekend.
I plan to stuff at least 100 lbs of cheddar brats and Italian sausages Saturday. So I'll put the casings as well as the spices to the test.
I bought 40 lbs of spices and just before I hit the "confirm payment" key, my wife tells me to get 1 lb of bay leaves. Yeah right. Do you know how much a lb of bay leaves are? An Italian restaurant couldn't use that much in a year. Well, that's probably not right, but It's a bunch of leaves. Hope she can use them.
Anyway, everything is packed into jars, and the rest is vac packed and in the freezer.
I have searched for decent prices for this stuff and Smokin Bill suggested Pittsburgh Spice Company to me a couple of months ago. Kudos to Bill. Thanks!!

Nice purchase. Prices better with them? I usually get casings from LEM and Sausagemaker. Should be some good sausage, looking forward to the pics.

I used to buy LEM casings from Bass Pro when I first started. Then I bought them from Allied-Kenco. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Other than their prices have gone up drastically on some things.
But the best prices I've seen is from Pittsburgh Spice Company. Check out their website. Even the 8 oz bag of casings is less than half price compared to LEM.

Figured I'd post an update to my spice buying experience from Pittsburgh Spice Co.
I've bought 2 more times, and I'm not impressed with their shipping practices at this point. Apparently they really try hard to get your first order out soon. But subsequent orders take an eternity to receive. And they only ship UPS which means it's very expensive. You have to order over 100 dollars worth, to justify shipping. And that's fine if you have that much to buy, but don't bother unless you do. For instance, 1 lb of Bourbon Sausage Seasoning @ $4.25 will cost you 14.47 in shipping. UPS doesn't charge near that much for standard ground. So that means the company is charging a fortune for handling. It appears to be a standard charge no matter how much you buy, because my last order, which was over 10 lbs was not much more.
As far as quality goes; everything seems very fresh and I like their casings better than any I've used so far.
But I get tired of waiting. It's been over a week and UPS just received the shipping info yesterday.

Another PCS update, if anyone cares.
The casings they sell are crap. I don't know where they are getting them, but I've bought hog, beef and sheep from them, and they all suck. I have experienced tears and holes at least every 12 inches. Makes sausage stuffing damn slow.
Still like the spices, but not there shipping practices. I won't be buying anymore spices from them, but that's just because I have found a source, 8 miles from home for bulk spices and cures.
