Has anyone ever heard of using coconut hsks for smoking? Living here in South Florida coconuts are everywhere. I think that the husks are used for cooking but don't know about smoking.

I have never used them, or seen them, but Coshell briquettes I believe are made from Coconut shells. There are a few here that grill, or have grilled with them (Chisoxjim).... Add wood chunks and you are smoking & grilling, or smoking

coconut shells are used to make activated carbon for aquarium water filtration. That is a high grade charcoal. I am wodering about the fibrous husk on the outside of the coconut.

In survival school they tell ya the fiber in the husks makes good tinder, might burn a bit hot. But it shouldn't be bad for the food.
