I was doing my regular "Weber" search in Craigslist AZ, and found 2 older style Weber Performers for sale (pre touch-n-go and charcoal bin style) for sale.
One guy wanted $165, which included the cover and a charcoal chimney. The other guy who is just about one hour north of me, wanted $120 for the Grill, Weber Chimney, Grate Lifter, Charcoal Dividers, Hinged Grate, and Cover.
I sent the 2nd guy an email saying I'd give him $90 if no one ever came through near his requested price. 3 days later he emailed me back saying "if you're serious come get it. I'm sick of dealing w/ CL weirdos"
The hardest part was selling my wife on it. She just kept saying "you already have kettles" so I just kept saying "but, you don't understand ".
The CL transaction was painless, no haggling, and was back on the road w/ this grill and the accessories for $90
The cover is in good shape. No cracks yet, like they tend to do in the AZ sun
Clean & green. No nicks or scratches anywhere. A quick hosing down and its good to go
Here's the stuff that came with it. That grate lifter is actually really handy
I threw in a small bag of mesquite lump to get a nice hot fire to clean it out. Check out my sweet above-ground pool in the background.
My wife had taken chicken breasts out of the freezer earlier on...not my favorite. Since the coals were still hot, so I threw em on rather than using the propane. I dusted w/ Slap Yo Daddy and Butchers BBQ Honey. The metal bowl has some Blues Hog Honey Mustard warming up.
For the Zucchini, she found a recipe on Pinterest that was the zook cut into strips, dipped in milk, flower, then a combo of panko and parmesan cheese.
Baked at 350 for just a little while
They were a great side
Sliced up the honey mustard chicken, added some romaine, avocado, cheese, and croutons and made a burrito (not a wrap )
