I picked up an electric smoker for cheap, its clean and only used a couple of times, when the element went out. Its a Cajun Injector, I think Lowes sold them. Anyway I need to replace the element with something. Has anyone used an electric frying pan, they seem to have the wattage but not sure if it is will work. Don't know why it would not. There is always the hot plate fix but wanted to try something else. Would like to find another element, but they are none available that I can find. Any Ideas???

What's the specs on the element? Any idea? Got a link to the unit? Perhaps a little engineering might be needed, but I bet something close could be found.

The smoker looks like the Masterbuilt that lowes sells now, the bad element is 650 watts
I am going to checkout goodwill or a swap meet for a fryer, it seems like a clean fix, it will be the chip holder, heater all in one. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried an electric fryer yet. If not I'll try, if I can find one. I'm only into this project for $20.

Had a buddy that used them in his refer builds and had good luck with them. Some degree of thermo control also. Be careful of any with a non stick coating. I would think it needs to be thoroughly removed.

thanks Mulepackin
just wanted to hear someone has used the idea, these smokers are small 12X15 so a fryer will fill the bottom

Got A pic? Cajun Injector is made by Masterbuilt, or was. If it has a digital temp comtrol it may be a fried wiring contact to the element. I had a Cajun Injector and that is/was a big problem with them and MES. Get a pic if you can. I might be able to help you fix it.

could be that wires to the element are corroded in need of cleaning or replacement ,quite an easy in-expensive fix ,here's a link to Deejays site of the fix with text and pics

That is the one

And the element can not be saved there is a hole melted in it the rest of the unit is good I think, looks clean with little use.

Yikes! Never seen or heard of an element melting. That link Tim has is a good one. I fixed mine 6-7 times and it was always the coroded or fried element connection wire. Good luck on it.
