  • Do it yourself UDS Kit

Kind of a nice kit if you don't want to find or make your own accessories. Top and bottom vents, handles, lid hanger, grilling grate, angled thermometer, adjustable fire basket with lift, utility rack, bottle opener, step drill bit and nuts & bolts. I forgot to mention that it looks like there is Free Shipping (right now anyways)!

Honestly, that's not a horrible price for everything but the drum. May be worth the convenience of people actually not having to look for everything to put their own together.

Dang. If those bottom vents work well and seal good at the end of a smoke that's a decent enough deal. Definitely better looking that my ball valve and pipe nipples.

I'd agree with that The bottom intake slides look pretty slick. The whole kit appears to be a time & gas saver over chasing down the parts.

How does one make adjustments to the fire basket? Do the legs pivot for height?

I am wondering if the metal gauge is as thick as a normal drum?

I think it's a good deal. I like that thermo, and how it faces up. I can't imagine the need for 2 of those intakes though. One would be more than enough

You can buy just the parts you need and not the whole kit

Nice kit, but I am not much of a fan of the slider air intakes. I prefer the ball valve intakes. A lot easier to adjust and will outlive slider vents. Other than that, I see nothing wrong with his kit. The charcoal baket looks pretty good, gotta give him the thumbs for that alone

I almost bought one of these kits, but then read that I would need to find my own drum lol. I dont know anyone who works in factories, etc where drums are available so it is a challenge to find one......

I am considering this because I am catering my daughter's wedding reception and I need a big capacity smoker and not eat up my budget. How's my butts can fit in a IDS at once? Can you cook on two levels?
