  • Minnesota Beer Bread in a Bottle Baked in the Dutch Oven

Minnbill sent me a nice little package not long ago after their Kentucky trip. In it was a bottle of Minnesota Beer Bread. It was a pre-mixed deal and all I had to do was add a 12 oz beer.

I baked it in a 10" shallow dutch oven with 7 coals on the bottom and 14 on top. I didn't keep track of the time I started it so I just kept peeking about every 15 minutes when I would rotate the oven and the lid. I think it took about 40 minutes to bake and it turned out great. The bread was light and had a really nice flavor.

Done but sorry, no plated pics of the chicken dinner we had with it.

    Thanks for viewing!
    Becky

very neat - guess the carbon dioxide in the beer adds extra 'rise' to the bread.

Might have to try that some time :-)

I don't know if it's the CO2 or the yeast.
