  • WTF did I plant??

WTF are these... AND, WTF do I do with them?

I bought them and planted in March thinking they were japs... Well, did I get Habanero chilis? They just now started to fruit!!

    What do I do next?

years ago i remember my kids in the garden center swapping the little labels in the cell packs before i noticed. i often wondered what the outcome might have been. i guess it could be just like yours.

    good luck

      run.......

I guess you could dry them out and use as a hot pepper shake... a la Fish's jalapeno salt.... make some super spicy salsa...

      Good luck!!

I agree with these guys, looks like a habanero to me also.

Sexy plant but sure packs a punch

Best thing about habs is their wonderful citrus flavor which is usually masked by the sudden unbearable heat that the plant produces but if you are lucky enough to get a plant that produces fruit with a strong citrusy flavor you have to save the seeds and grow it again because it will only get better year after year.
I have one this year that doesn't have that great citrus flavor but has such a wonderful sweet flavor along with the heat (so much so that you would think the pepper was grown with some sugar in it) that I am saving the seeds because it's not like any hab I've grown before and the origin of the seeds are a mystery to me so if they are the same next year I know I've got something special.

Thems habs. Make some awesome pepper sauce or spice grind them and use them to kick up the Mad Hunky Hot Whangs.
Smoke it.. and they will come!

Are you telling me you eat these things? Or is it only the seeds and veins that are the hottest?
