  • Wednesday Night Dutch Oven Mountain Dew Chicken in the Backyard

Got this recipe off of Dutch Oven Dude: http://www.dutchovendude.com/recipe.asp?a=1979

I scaled it down for just two. This is a great meal!!! The chicken was so moist and tender all you had to do was stick your fork in it and it fell apart. And the veggies with the bacon...well, BACON!! This is a recipe that I will definitely do again! I used my 10" shallow DO. I used a full compliment of coals under when frying the bacon and chicken. Then when it was time to bake, 5 on the bottom and about 15 - 17 on top.

Sorry for the crappy pictures....I used my phone, which I realized that I can get away with sneaking pictures pretty easy. But I won't use it that often.

    All that was left.

Thanks for looking at my dinner.
    Becky

                        Very nice!

The dutch oven is one of the most versatile vessels there is. Some of the most fun I have ever had was teaching classes to scoutmasters on how to cook dinner for 100 in dutch ovens. We always finished every evening up with a cobbler contest. Yes you can do just about anything in a Dutch Oven. I think the best biscuits ever come from a dutch oven.
