  • Russian and a Babushka Qualude

My favorite afternoon cocktail over lunch.
I discovered this drink, more like I was made privy to this drink, at a bar and grill I use to go to on the west coast that served my favorite burger of all time, Yak Burgers (another recipe).
I asked the barmaid to surprise me when she asked if I would like something to drink and this is what I got.
I've been drinking it every since.

    Russian Qualude
    In a bucket add ice
    layer
    shot of Kahlua
    Shot of Baileys (Irish Cream)
    Shot of Frangelico (Almond Liquer)
    Shot of Stolichnaya Vodka
    Top with half and half

It wont layer just right but it'll come close for appearance sake.
Use homemade Baileys and Kahlua for an over the top experience.

A variation I enjoy. I made this one up and even named it myself ;)

    Babushka Qualude

In a bucket over ice layer
Shot of Dark Creme De' Cocoa
    shot of Frangelico
    Shot of Stoli's Vodka
    Top with 1/2 and 1/2

In a chimney (dont bother trying to layer) if it's a long lunch.

Babushka means Grandma in Russian. Some say it means baby.

Your thinking of that bib one needs after three of these while you put down the Yak burger.

      Common mistake

      re-read.
Tied under the chin confused me ;)

At an ex fvorite watering hole I frequented during my divorced days, the Russian Qualude was the designated house shooter of choice. Never heard it called a Babushka Russian qualude, but the same recipe. edit ours didnt have Kahlua in it. Good stuff, but its a creeper. Puts your torlega in the dirt when you least expect it.
