  • First chicken fried steak

Lot of firsts for me with CI as I just got in to it. Gave chicken fried steak a whirl tonight. Came out good, except the gravy was a little too thick. Have to get a new gravy recipe for next time. Also made a veggie side dish and some taters. Enough babble--- here is some photos :).

Thanks fer lookin. Also if anyone has a great brown gravy recipe they want to PM me or post I am all ears :D

Good looking chicken fried. You can make your gravy thinner by just adding a little more of whatever liquid you are using (milk or water).

      Love CFS!
Try like 2 Tbsp butter, 2 Tbsp flour...small sauce pan med-low heat. make a medium roux. Add some beef stock, and thicken to how you like with milk... add more stock if needed...whisking constantly

the gravy is easy. to be really authentic use lard w/ bacon drippings.

          equal amounts flour/grease.
the rest is as the others said. make sure you use low/medium heat.

Thanks for the tips on the gravy! I did use the leftovers from the CfS to start but next time I will add some beef broth and butter over low heat with just a little flour and milk.

Bark---I used cube steak. I flattened and tenderized it before dredging it. For my dredge process I dipped in two eggs(beaten) then flour mix(flour,S&P, hot hatch chile powder) then back in eggs and then back in flour mix.

Brown gravy with Chicken Fried Steak??? That's wrong. Down in these parts it is white cream gravy.
