  • Waffle iron update!

Sorry for so many posts here in the CI section, but I am addicted!

Got all paint removed, gunk off, rust off, and one round of seasoning. 2 rounds of oven cleaner in a bag and SS scrubber and steel wool took the paint and gunk off---- then in 50/50 vinegar water solution and scrubbed with a small wire brush. Man I do not want to clean another waffle iron!!! Pain in the neck! Even seasoning was tough getting the oil in every nook and cranny with a q tip. Whew!

Anyhow, it looks great! Any suggestion on lightly oiling after cooking and rinsing with hot water? Is there an easier way then oil on a qtip??? It was hard to get oil in the waffle pattern with just a cloth or paper towel....

Use a pastry brush or an inexpensive chip brush. Close with a paper towel(s) between half if you need to remove some excess. Nice waffle iron btw.

I think a spray oil would be easiest.

That is what I would do. Just spray with Pam.

                Re:

Here's an idea that don't cost much and is a heck of a lot less work.

Get ya a plastic storage bin big enough for your iron that needs cleaning up. Drop by the Dollar Tree store and buy about three or four of those
3 liter bottles of Cola soda.

Put the iron in the container and flood it with the Cola. That will do a lot of the work for ya.

As for that Waffle Iron, my Great Grandmother had one of those when I was a little kid. She would make waffles for Great Grandad every Sunday
morning. I remember her Buckwheat Waffles most of all. But I never could eat that Sorghum on em like Great Grandad. Great Grandad and Grandad kept bees on the Dairy farm back then and I liked the honey
they harvested. Especially the Goldenrod honey. (find ya some of that
                for some waffles)

But that's a fine job ya got out of that waffle iron !

just use a small pastry brush dipped in oil and brush it on.
                  quick, simple and effective :-)

Now go make some waffles !

Fishawn, wish I knew how old it was. I know griswold made a bunch of different models back in the day....

As for everyone else, thanks so much for the comments and ideas! I got some great ideas. Now to cook some waffles!

i dont think anyone can post to much in CI or anywhere for that matter. good lookin restoration.

as far as what to use other than qtips, pamper chef make a pump spray bottle. that way you can choose the oil. i am sure other companys make and sell them too
