well i've only cold smoked nuts once.
Wasn't overly impressed with the smoke flavour.

Did you cook the nuts after or were they already roasted ?

I did some almonds with hickory at about 250 and they came out almost too smoky. I tossed them in a skillet with butter , salt, pepper and mad hunky beforehand. They were good right off but were great after a few days.

Yeah hot smoked nuts are pretty much always spot on.

These were cold smoked though - the cheese was the clue :-)

OH Alex, you just can't help yourself. LOL. I was pointing the way to successful smoked nuts. I think we had established that cold smoking was not the way. I was going to mention that in the cheese thread he started but figured it would sort itself out.

i forgot to add 'cold smoked" to my post,
yaa cold smoking peanuts wont work and hadn't seen any posts on this topic, they were already roasted and salted, i thought maby the peanut oil in the nuts was blocking it somehow, ive always thought cold smoking was the way to go with peanuts ill try hot smoking next time, im guessing that the heat is making the nuts softer to gain the smoke flavor.
