  • Your thoughts on this Fire Pit

    http://circlejfab.com/FirePits_dd2.html

Ok, I have a small ceramic fire pit that my wife bought me for Christmas a few years ago. It has developed a pretty good crack and I'm thinking this is its last season. This place isn't far from me, and I have been by and looked these units over. They are built like a tank. Everything is 3/16" steel. Great movable pit with the added benefit of having a cooking grate. If you have ever had a steak seared over an open fire that is really hot, you know how good they can be. So, what do you guys think? I know they are pricey, and they also have kits available. All the parts, you do your own welding for about 60% of the full price. Since they are local, I might be able to get a "scratch and dent" unit.

I do use the pit. I just enjoy sitting outside beside an open fire on a cool evening with a dram.

Great idea! Yeah they a bit pricey...My oldest son is making one out of a big truck rim & getting 1/2 of it set to grill...He likes to cook on an open fire...thats ow I taught him & he likes it to this day...

For that price I'd put short legs on my Weber Kettle and let it rip!

                I'd go with this.....http://www.gratewalloffire.com/Outdo...-pits_c_6.html

What a nice set of coals this thing produces. Doubles as a burn barrel for your stick burner too!

They are built very good. Legs are too long for my liking. If they had shorter legs they would be close to the fire pits Yoder used to build. Yoder also had an adjustable grate system as well as an adjustable hanger for a Dutch oven.

Here is the video from the page. Shorten the legs and you have a winning combo that will be around for years.
Check out their YouTube channel. Some neat cooking on that fire pit.

Smoke it.. and they will come!
