  • Wood Hunt

Living in the west, we do not have the luxury of haveing oak, hickory, and pecan in out backyards. I have read the sticky on different types of wood. I do have access to lots of willow, but am nervous about useing it. I am going to go and get some russian olive to try. I have read that this is an OK wood to use. Is there any body that has proven results on this wood, or any other type of wood that might be easy to come across in the west?

I have and still sometimes do use Olive. Not sure what strain it is, came from Cali. Have and still do use Cali Pistachio. In Wa we have access to lots of fruit woods, Maple, Oak and Alder. Anything else I order or buy. Where you at? What are you looking for?

I am in southern ID. We do have some fruitwood around, but people think it is gold. As for other hardwoods, there is maple, wich I do have some of that. I do know of a good oak tree, but that is on the courthouse front lawn, and I do not think I should go and trim that one up.
