  • Saved from the Shredder !

The guy that picks up our scrap metal had this on his truck when he pulled up the other day. After a little chat and a 10 dollar bill it was mine.

I was thinking I would like to convert it to a reverse flow. Has anyone here converted one this small into a reverse flow? I was thinking TH had done one a while back could be wrong though. What do you guys think would it work OK as a reverse flow?

Nice find, SixPack! I never find any deals like that around here. Seems everyone that owns one also uses them.

Allright good deal! Far as a reverse, you COULD I suppose. Need a bottom pan and move the stack...might have to twiddle with the stack size to get the more draw, maybe not. Most folks go with the tuning plates and the exhaust extension and are very happy with the results.

I've got what looks to be the same smoker and did what Rich said. Tuning plates and move the stack to the end. Works pretty well now. Here is a pic.

As to small reverse flow. Is this small enough?

Smoke chamber is just 6" x 16" and works great!

          $10? What a steal!
Looks just like my old faithful. I have yet to do the tuning plate mod. Not having a real knowledge on where to find a tuning plate, or what metals can't be used, I have been hesitant to take that leep... Congrats on your new baby.

I was thinking I could use this as practice. Planning on building a 60 size Lang-A-Like this fall. Your probably right about the stack will have to think about that.

Thats a right nice little reverse flow you got there. Is that one of Steve's builds?

Now, not as sweet as you're find, but here is the Weber One-Touch I saved from the side of the road:

                      Before:

During repaint to touch up rust spots / dings:

                      top:

                      Bottom:

                      Finished:
                      Weber Smokey Joe
                      Weber 22.5" Silver

Sorry for the delay Steve... Here are a few pics of my build..

Stripped all the hardware off and capped the end...

Then added a plate & firebox...

Added legs, exhaust and cooking rack....

It works good but I would like to change the exhaust to a larger one.. I would like to have more draft..

So making a smaller reverse flow can be done, and not to expensive..

                              Holy Mackerel Mr T...

                              WOW.

(I'm almost embarrassed about posting my puny efforts sanding and repainting a Weber kettle after seeing that build!!!)
