That's kinda scary and crazy at the same time... and it may have been caused by antibiotics?

oh yeah antibiotics knock the crap out of your internal flora and fauna.

So the best tip - if you're put on oral antibiotics - make sure you also consume a bunch of those probiotic yoghurt drinks all the time you're on the pills and for a week or two afterwards as well.

One of the problems that often crops up after a course of antibiotics are sudden allergies to foods.

We've had it a number of times in our dogs.

Weirdest one was phoenix - had some sort of gut infection. Vet put her on ab's and next thing we knew she was massively allergic to chicken.

The ab's knocked out her internal bacteria and she developed an allergy to chicken proteins.
Given that no commercial dogfood - except the specialist stuff - is made without chicken of some kind. We had a trying 6 months. She very gradually recovered and could eat an entire chicken now - if we were stupid enough to both leave the kithchen gate open and a chicken where she could reach it.

Another of our dogs developed a liver allergy after a similiar series of events.

So be warned - take antibiotics - make sure you also take probiotics as well :-)

Ditto on the yogurt with Live Active Cultures.

Makes you wonder if the Lawyers will start to use this as a defense for drunk drivers blowing a saturated level.

Apologies to any Lawyers on here!
