View Full Version : The Coffin got Cremated
Slanted88 07-05-2009, 08:24 AM Some of ya know I made a plywood smoker. Been doing great. My Dad's bud all but begged me to let him borrow it. In exchange, i'd get some venison sausage & whatever. He called my Dad, Dad called me.....it burnt to the ground. He forgot to put a drip pan in it, I didn't tell him figured he knew what he was doing. Well ya'll....he said it was a fire from hell. He was out doing chores yesterday, said it was doing great. He's more upset that it burned & thought i'd be po'd. Nah....be allright. So yesterday....I went back to my root's & used my ECB for some chicken. I needed refresher training. So the good news is....Louie said start lookin for what ya want. Hmmm...thinkin!
Also no property damage. And the shutoff valve in the gas bottle worked. That may have been interesting. So the Coffin gone!

Gunslinger 07-05-2009, 12:01 PM Well I'm glad you're OK with it. I'm crushed. I'm going to have a memorial service at Church this evening for it. I feel like I lost a part of my family, almost like a Godson got killed. I did have a hand in naming it after all. :faint:
I thought you got a horizontal w/sfb from a fleeing neighbor. Not ready yet?
Anyway, Mike I'm just gonna have to insist that before you loan out another smoker, you have to get approval from us, here at S-M via posting a poll. Just remember, I'm doing this for you.
RSands 07-05-2009, 12:03 PM Ah man, sorry to hear that! Bet what ever you do next will be even better!

Now see, these are the kinds of names I can live with. Names that portray the smoker as an object. Which it is. Even though it can have a personality, which your Coffin did, it's not enough of a personality to call it, Georgina or Murphy or, well you get the point.
When my smoker is painted I'm calling it Fpos.

sweet_magnolia 07-17-2009, 09:55 AM :Cry::Cry::Cry: Glad no one was hurt though!
curious aardvark 07-20-2009, 11:18 AM Oh forgot to ask... was the food done? ;{)
lol you just know it was - certainly was when I cremated my smoker lol
I think it's some kind of smoking law - the worse the damage to the smoker the better cooked the food in it at the time of cremation :bounce:
No drip pan so I'm guessing grease fire ? Yeah that'd do it in a wood smoker.
As for a new smoker - well the pig bbq we 'built' this weekend out of breeze blocks worked so well I'm contemplating putting one up permament in the garden. Added bonus of a brick/cinder block smoker - can't burn down and you sure as hell ain't going to loan it to anyone lol
