  • Apple Wine? Apple Pie? What To Do????

    Got aboot 20-25 pounds of apples that need a good ending.....


    Thinking aboot apple wine or apple pie (alcohol) ......

    Any good recipes? Or ideas?

      I have been simmering apples and making a couple things. Apple-bourbon BBQ sauce and apple jerky. Am contemplating a batch of apple/honey mead. HAve about a gallon and a half of extracted juice chilled now...

        Not really, I don't eat much bread or toast, and I'm sure my wife and kids would not eat it...... Can always use some sort of "strange brew" to pull out at the bar though

        Cool!!!! So, can I "juice" them now and store in big glass Mason jars for a bit, until I figure oot what to do with it? Any ideas on how long fresh juiced apple juice will keep in a fridge?

          Sure. I did add a gram of Ascorbic acid... V-C- to the liquid to retard oxidation.

          Man that extract is FULL of pectin. I wonder if I'm gonna be making mead jello shots?

              Well...we do stuff em with ground turkey or chicken...got one of them core gig doofers...best if you get on some Apfelkorn! Louie can shine her @$$ on that gig!

                      you essentially have cider..fresh juiced apples...it will go "hard" in about three -four weeks... it does freeze great though... I try to stock up about this time of year and get me though the summer...makes a great spritz!
